Ready2Read is an early literacy program that helps prepare young children for later reading and writing. 

You’ll find suggestions for laying the groundwork for a child’s reading success.  Our library offers many of the recommended books and tools to help you begin.  Check with our Youth Services Librarian or another staff member to get started.

Research shows that children prepare to read years before they start school.  Babies chew on their favorite books.  Toddlers ask to be read a special story.  Preschoolers recite books from memory.  All these are examples of pre-literacy skills.  Let us show you how to incorporate recommended books, activities, songs, games, and fingerplays into your reading time each day.
